AUBURN — Thirty-two aspiring law enforcement officers took the ALERT test recently at Central Maine Community College.

The ALERT test is given to determine if an applicant meets the minimum requirements to attend the Maine Criminal Justice Academy’s Basic Law Enforcement, Basic Corrections or Law Enforcement Pre-Service Academy. Most of those who sat for the test are students in the criminal justice program at CMCC.

The college will host a Law Enforcement Pre-Service Academy starting Thursday, March 25. Students will have classes every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will conclude with a full week of classes at the end of the semester. Graduation is planned for May 7. The schedule will ensure that students have ample time to apply for summer reserve officer positions.

The ALERT test is likely to be administered again at CMCC before the start of the Pre-Service Academy. Anyone interested in taking the ALERT Test or attending the academy is asked to contact Bill King at 755-5208 or e-mail [email protected].
