LEWISTON – The Down East Country Music Association Inc. will present the 24th annual awards show from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Holy Family Parish Hall, Sabattus Street.

Doors will open at 1 p.m. Ticket prices are $8 for adults; $7, advance sales; $4, age 12 and under; $3 advance; $5, adult competitors; $2.50, under 12. There will be a snack bar.

Campus tour

GORHAM – The University of Southern Maine Office of Undergraduate Admission will host a special group information session and campus tour for prospective students and their families from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, on the Gorham campus.

The event will feature a one-hour walking tour of the Gorham campus followed by a group information session led by USM students and admission and student life staff. An optional tour of the Portland campus will be offered at noon.

Camp Ray of Hope

WINTHROP – Camp Ray of Hope will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 17 to 19, at Camp Mechuwana. The annual weekend retreat is for families and individuals who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives.

Children and adults participate with their peers in support groups, workshops that encourage healthy outlets and self-care. Campers can fish and canoe. Massage therapists and Reiki practitioners and reflexologists donate sessions to campers of all ages.

Applicants from throughout the state are considered. Cost is $50 a person or $150 for a family of three or more. Scholarship money is available. Donations for scholarships are accepted. Church workshops

GORHAM – Precept Ministries International training workshops for students, potential leaders or current leaders will be held Oct. 28 to 30 at Galilee Baptist Church. The workshops are sponsored by Precept Ministries International of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Experienced instructors lead sessions that teach the inductive Bible study skills of observation, interpretation, application and discussion group leadership. Trainers can also offer instructions in developing more effective skills in a particular area of interest or need.

Scout dinner

PORTLAND – The Girl Scouts of Kennebec Council will honor Beth Newlands Campbell, senior vice president of Business Strategy and Retail Operations for Hannaford Bros. Co., at its eighth annual Women of Distinction Dinner to be held on Dec. 1 at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks.

Proceeds of the dinner will allow the Girl Scouts of the Kennebec Council to continue offering programs to approximately 11,000 girls ages 5 to 17 in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset and York counties.
