A load of sand, from Noyes Sand and Gravel, was delivered to the Dixfield sand pile Thursday afternoon, bringing the total of sand needed so far this winter to 3,500 cubic yards. Public works supervisor, Tim Hansen and Town Manager Tom Richmond, pictured, said they have had to borrow salt from neighboring towns because of the lack of the commodity from the supplier. They are hoping to get a delivery of salt next week. The huge number of snowstorms this winter has also resulted in the town spending $7,000 in unexpected funds for the removal of snow, said Richmond.
