Josh Titus is headed to the Final Four.

The autistic Edward Little boys’ basketball manager who inspired thousands by suiting up and playing in the Red Eddies’ final home game this season will depart for Detroit Friday to attend Saturday’s NCAA men’s Final Four games at Ford Field.

Titus, a senior at EL, will be joined by his parents, Andy and Carolyn, as well as Patrick Thibodeau, the Greely High School boys’ basketball manager with Down’s Syndrome who also suited up for his team on the same night. In addition, both will be featured in an 8-to-10 minute segment airing nationally on CBS between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. prior to the start of the Final Four games.

The Maine McDonald’s Owner/Operators Association, which presented Titus and Thibodeau with its first Spirit of the Game Award at the Maine All-Star Basketball Games last month, is paying for the trip.

Titus scored nine points, including a 3-pointer from the top of the key, and pulled down two rebounds in five minutes of action during EL’s Feb. 3 game against Leavitt. That same night, Thibodeau, also a senior, took the floor for Greely’s home finale against Gray-New Gloucester and hit two 3-pointers.
