PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Maine’s Sudanese community and its supporters plan a rally to express their concerns about safety in their neighborhoods.

The Sudanese are to be joined by 20 ethnic, religious and social justice groups in the Portland area at Thursday’s rally at the city’s Monument Square.

The Sudanese have expressed concern about unsolved crimes affecting their community. They hope the rally will help to build awareness of these issues and help forge a better relationship between the police and other segments of the Portland community.
