Deborah Zoe Laufer’s quirky comedy, “Out of Sterno,” which has been called a “coming-of-age play in an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ world,” will be staged Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 27-29 and Sept. 3-5, at Deertrees Theatre in Harrison. “Out of Sterno” proves that a woman’s struggle to discover a sense of self — beyond that offered by a world geared to the care, feeding and pleasuring of men — can be zippy, playful, savvy and even, at times, delightfully lewd. Teri Eoff, above, portrays Zena, the vampish beauty shop operator. All shows are at 8 p.m. Tickets, $20/$10, are available at the Cool Moose in Bridgton, Country Sleigh in Naples, Books N Things in Bethel and Fare-Share Coop in Norway; by calling 583-6747; and online at www.deertreestheatre.org.
