After reading that selectmen have deigned to allow Paris residents not one, but two recall elections, I have been reflecting on the past six months.
At his first meeting, giving us a taste of his disregard for the rule of law, Troy Ripley stated that he “(didn’t) care what that paper said,” that Ray Glover was referring to (a copy of the rules regarding the use of executive sessions), as he and his cohorts attempted to hide behind a legal curtain to fire Sharon Jackson.
Hidden agenda has been his theme ever since.
David Ivey stated at that same meeting that his previous two years on the Board of Selectmen had been hell for him. He then proceeded to inflict his own special brand of hell on the town.
Glen Young has finally found brethren with whom he could take Paris in a “different direction.” Paris has been in a downward spiral ever since.
After these many months of turmoil, many people have decided we no longer wish to leave our future in the hands of this crew. In fact, many people believed the town was headed in the right direction before residents were subjected to their particular form of “benevolence.”
I hope every citizen who cares about this town comes out to the polls on Feb. 1 and Feb. 5, and will vote to send these guys (Ivey and Ripley) packing.
We all deserve better treatment than we’ve received from those characters.
Janet Jamison, South Paris
