Smith
RYE, N.H. — The wedding of Laurie Anne Parlin and Ian Eric Bishop Smith was held on Aug. 15 at Odiorne State Park. David Bishop, notary public and uncle of the bridegroom, officiated at the outdoor ceremony.
Mrs. Smith is the daughter of Randy and Dodi Parlin of Chesterville. Mr. Smith is the son of Eric and Nancy Smith of Columbus, Ohio.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a strapless white silk taffeta gown and carried a bouquet of multi-colored Gerber daisies. She also carried a handkerchief made by her great great-grandmother, which had been carried by her great-grandmother, grandmother and mother at their weddings.
Lindsay Cole, best friend since kindergarten, attended as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Megan Oliva, childhood friend, Pam Gibson and Emily Slingerland, college friends, Kristen Parlin, friend, Jordan Bain, sister of the bridegroom, and Erin Smith, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Giana Parlin and Keira Bain, nieces, were flower girls.
Serving as best man was Ned Smith, brother of the bridegroom. Ushers were Mike Bain, brother-in-law, Steve Parlin, brother of the bride, and Chris Dusseau, Ben Focht, Matt Copeland and Jon Secrest, friends. Colin and Nate Parlin, nephews, were ring bearers.
A reception followed at the New England Center in Durham, N.H., after which the couple traveled to Curacao. They are residing in Columbus, Ohio.
The bride is a 1995 graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn and a 1999 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She also received her master’s degree in health education from Boston University and is a member of the faculty at Capital University and is exercise specialist at Columbus State Community College.
The bridegroom is a 1995 graduate of Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio, and a 1999 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, with a bachelor’s degree in recreation management and policy/English. He is general manager at Columbus Fibernet.
