The 77th Composite Squadron of the Auburn-Lewiston area was recently presented the Civil Air Patrol Squadron of Merit Award for 2010 at the Maine Wing Conference. The award was given for exceptional cadet programs performance throughout 2009. Only one cadet or Composite Squadron in each Civil Air Patrol region is selected for the honor each year. The 77th is only Squadron in the Northeast Region to be presented this award and banner. The Squadron is based at the Auburn-Lewiston Airport. Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 58, 000 members nationwide. Maine Wing Commander Colonel Dan Leclair, left, presented the award to Captain Gary Brearley, commander of the 77th.
