Truck driver Homer Garey, 32, of Paris and passenger Edward DeRoche, 34, of Rumford were unhurt when Garey swerved the 2003 Toyota Tundra pickup to avoid hitting a deer on Alpine Street in Norway on Tuesday night. Patrolman Rob Federico said a guardrail was ripped down and a utility pole was broken off at the base. Power was expected to be restored by Wednesday morning, he said. Norway police Sgt. Jim Ventresca and Oxford County Cpl. Brian Landis assisted Federico.
