Public breakfast
HARRISON — The VFW Post 9328 on Waterford Road will host a public breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 11.
This month’s menu will include scrambled eggs, home fries, French toast, pancakes, biscuits with country gravy, bacon, sausage, fruit cup, dessert breads, coffee and orange juice. Donations will be appreciated.
Chicken barbecue
NORWAY — A chicken barbecue will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Norway Masonic Lodge Hall, 9 Temple St. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. There will be chicken breasts, macaroni salad, bake beans, corn on the cob, bread and drinks. The dining area is air conditioned.

Book sale
BRYANT POND — The Whitman Memorial Library will have a book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 10. There will be books, DVDs, VCR tapes and a white elephant table.
Society meeting
LOCKE MILLS — John Davis of South Paris will present a special program at the meeting of the Greenwood Historical Society at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at the Historical building.
The program will be about the launching of Army B-25s from an aircraft carrier as recalled by a pilot who flew on a mission with Jimmy Doolittle on April 18, 1942, to bomb mainland Japan, and of the training for the project, voyage, the raid and the journey to safe haven. Through extensive research and interest in the raid stemming from personal familiarity with one of the targeted areas, Davis’ presentation will also include additional material and photographs pertinent to the pilot’s account and the transit to execute the launch.
