MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Emergency and health officials are urging people across northern New England to be careful in the heat.

The National Weather Service has issued a health advisory for most of Vermont and New Hampshire through 8 p.m.

Vermont Emergency Management and the Health Department say the elderly, children and people with respiratory problems are most susceptible to the heat.

The Weather Service says interior sections of New Hampshire could see temperatures between 95 and 97. Combined with humidity, meteorologist Stacie Hanes says the sticky combination will make it feel closer to 100.

Maine is expected to be slighter cooler. Hanes says Maine’s largest city will see the mercury climb to 89.
