Candidates needed
PHILLIPS — Phillips Old Home Days king and queen candidates are needed. A meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 29, in front of the Phillips Hardware Store. Organizers will hand out tickets and the participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Anyone in the sixth to 12th grade that lives in Phillips, Avon or Madrid is eligible. Participants will sell raffle tickets to help with the scholarship fund and some events throughout the week, Aug. 15 to 22. The winners will receive 25 percent of their sales and all others will receive 15 percent.
Celebration of life
RANGELEY — The Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust and the family of Robert (Bob) C. Summers Sr. will host a gathering of friends to celebrate Summers’ life and his commitment to the Rangeley community. The event will start at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the Whip Willow Farm Overlook at the base of Dallas Hill Road on Route 4.
Several of his dearest friends will share their thoughts and memories of him. Congressman Mike Michaud, a longtime supporter of the Rangeley Lakes Scenic Byway, will share about Summers’ commitment to the byway and local economic development. A memorial plaque will be unveiled to honor his life and legacy.

Community breakfast
RANGELEY — The next ladies/community breakfast, with everyone invited, will be from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, sponsored by the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, 2378 Main St.
