BETHEL — The SAD 44 school board reorganized for the upcoming school year, heard an update on the installation of a sprinkler system at the high school complex and made a couple of staffing changes when it met Monday night.
Superintendent David Murphy said board Chairman Sidney Pew, Vice Chairwoman Lainey Cross, and Vice Chairman pro tempore Marcel Polak were re-elected to their positions.
The resignation of Crescent Park Elementary School kindergarten teacher Lynn Newell was accepted. She recently accepted a similar position with neighboring Western Foothills Regional School Unit 10. Megan McCarthy was hired as an elementary physical education teacher.
The sprinkler system for Telstar Middle/High School is about halfway completed and is expected to be in place early in the autumn, Murphy said.
He said Oxford County Emergency Management Agency Director Scott Parker would attend the next board meeting set for Aug. 9 to review a district-wide emergency plan that has been in the works by a district subcommittee for the past year.
