Church fair

WINTHROP — Winthrop Congregational Church will host its annual summer fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31.

Featured items will include baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles, collectibles, Red Sox basket raffle, “second time around” table, cook books, jewelry and Rada cutlery. There will also be a silent auction and a luncheon, featuring lobster rolls, chicken salad rolls, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and homemade desserts.

Guard Start course

LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer a Guard Start course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13 and 20. Guard Start is an American Red Cross program for 13- to 14-year-olds to prepare them to take the lifeguarding course when they turn 15.

Children will learn safety in and around water, how to help others without entering the water in an emergency and how to recognize and respond to an emergency. The cost is $72 for members and $82 for nonmembers. Space is limited and registration is requested by Aug. 5. For more information or to register, call 795-4050.

Board meeting
NORWAY — Community Concepts Inc. will hold its board of directors meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at the Norway Town Office complex, 19 Danforth St. All meetings are open to the public. For more information, call 739-6564.
Golden Age Group

AUBURN — The Golden Age Group of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish will meet at the Sacred Heart Church basement meeting room on Tuesday, Aug. 10. The luncheon of American chop suey, salad, rolls, dessert and beverages will be served.
Members are encouraged to come at 11 a.m. to socialize, lunch will be served promptly at noon, followed by the meeting and monthly drawings. Members who wish to purchase tickets for the luncheon, for $5, are asked to contact Paula at 576-4082.
