LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women, a drop in center, will resume its regular schedule on Monday. Aug. 2, with open hours of 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. At 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, the Red Hat group will be an old-fashioned ice cream social.
The popular group called Y.A.N.A. (You Are Not Alone) will continue on Thursdays at 1 p.m. The group focuses on positives and is a time for a person to feel good about themselves. Something different may happen every time.
Wisdom Circle will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17. It is a meditative group that works on stress release and is led by Sarah Wood from Sexual Assault Crisis Center. The Strong Women program will continue on Monday, Aug. 16 and 30 at 1 p.m. Participants in Strong Women listen and respond to a story of a strong woman.
Women’s health and wellness programs in August will include the monthly cooking class with Denise Dill from St. Mary’s Nutrition Center at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug.18, with learning about preserving fruits and vegetables.
The Tooth Fairy, a mobile dental hygiene clinic, will be at the center on Monday Aug. 9. Health and wellness “One on Ones” will be available the mornings of the Aug. 9 and 23 and will include blood pressure and weight checks and conversations on topics of concern. Western Maine Community Action will host their monthly clinic for women’s reproductive health at the center on the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 25.
Other regular activities include a writing workshop, various crafts, scrapbooking, painting and card-making. The full program schedule for August is posted on the center’s website at www.wisdomswomen.org. All programs at the center are free, no registration required.
