STRATTON — The Kibby Boot Camp summer program will host a closing ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the Stratton Community Center.
The program has allowed nine disadvantaged 18- to 24-year-olds to learn work place skills through a curriculum known as Work Ready, as well as learn about the green construction industry through multiple field visits to the Kibby Mountain Wind Farm and visits to other construction facilities within Western Maine.
After six weeks, participants have earned OSHA safety training certification; CPR and first aid training; Work Ready certification; learned to write effective resumes, cover letters and skills to interview effectively; and have gained invaluable information about the construction industry helping them prepare to enter the workforce.
The closing ceremony will include a presentation by the team members, video and an opportunity for each member to share their individual portfolios.
