Robert Cyr of Greene raises his arms in celebration of “being alive” after he was extricated from his pickup Friday afternoon at the corner of Union and Hampshire streets in Auburn. When he stepped on the brake, it slipped off and hit the gas, speeding through the intersection and colliding with a vehicle, foreground, driven by Jeremy Bright of Auburn, who was coming through the intersection after the light on his side turned green. “I just got my truck back from the garage yesterday after having $1,200 of bodywork done. But I am OK because I had my seat belt on,” Cyr said.
