F. S. Neal of Auburn, after reading an article in a Maine paper which told of George Bonney and a party of Auburn men travelling from Boston to Phillips, a distance of 219.9 miles in eight hours and 27 minutes in a Packard automobile, says that there is no Packard car which could make that record with five people and a trunk. Mr. Neal writes that he can secure a good pool of money to bet that the thing can’t be duplicated and says that he knows he can beat him with his Stearns.

Lewiston firemen tangled with a bad bat and a nest of hornets yesterday. Otherwise, things were pretty much routine.
A crew was called to 215 Lisbon St. shortly after 1 o’clock in the morning to get rid of a bat that had moved into an upstairs rent. They did.
At 2:16 p.m. firemen went to 65 Googin St. and got rid of a nest of hornets on a house. They used hose water to do it.

A Boston company will do an impact study on sections of the Lake Auburn watershed opened up to residential development by the Auburn City Council. The city of Lewiston will be asked to split the $5,000 cost, Auburn Water District trustees decided Wednesday afternoon.
While councilors approved the rezoning of land on four watershed roads from the well-protected agriculture and resource protection zone to low-density residential development, they also called for a moratorium on building on these roads until the results of an impact study are known.
