The trade has been processed, and as reported earlier, Cole Hawes is the newest member of the Lewiston Maineiacs. The team acquired the 17-year-old forward from the Shawinigan Cataractes today for a 3rd-round pick in 2011 (originally Quebec’s) and a 5th-rounder in 2012.
In a news release, Maineiacs’ GM Roger Shannon had this to say:
“Cole is a committed player who competes very hard, exactly the kind of kid you want, and makes guys around him compete also,” Shannon said. “As a 17-year old, he gives one more building block needed going forward.”
The Maineiacs hit the ice this afternoon to face the Victoriaville Tigres in their second preseason tilt in as many days.
