TOPSHAM — A second arrest has been made in connection with the fire in Topsham earlier this month which destroyed a vacant apartment house, according to the Maine State Police.
Zechariah Menchaca, 18, of Topsham was arrested in Brunswick on Monday afternoon and charged with arson, according to a press release from the State Police. He was transported to the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset, where he is being held for $100,000 bail. His first court appearance will be this week.
The Aug. 17 fire was at a four-unit abandoned apartment building on the Brunswick Naval Air Station Annex in Topsham. No one was hurt.
Another man, 21-year-old Robi Saputra, was arrested last week on Aug. 18 and was also charged with arson relating to this fire.
Menchaca lives at Merrymeeting Condos in Topsham, which is also the home of Saputra, according to police.
