LULAC event

LEWISTON — The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) will host the first annual law enforcement appreciation Latino-style barbecue at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at 40 Strawberry Ave. All are welcome to attend and to meet city officials and law enforcement officers. 

In attendance will be Lewiston Mayor Larry Gilbert, Lewiston Police Chief Michael J. Bussiere, Police Sergeant/Community Outreach Coordinator Mark R. Robitaille and other Auburn city representatives, to be announced.

Bridge results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Aug. 30 were as follows: first, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; second, Linda Leotsakos and Nancy Lindgren; third, Les Buzzell and Ron Reynolds; first in B, Ed Lee and Helen Little.

Games are played every week at 9 a.m. and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games. There will be no game on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6.

Pedal for Peace

BRUNSWICK — The second annual Pedal for Peace, a bike ride to benefit Bpeace’s work with entrepreneurs in Afghanistan, Rwanda and El Salvador, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The ride will take off from Frontier Cafe, Cinema and Gallery, and will include a 25-, 50- and 100-mile bike ride through Brunswick, Freeport and Bowdoinham.

Ride registration is available at www.bpeace.org/ride and requires that each individual raise a minimum of $250.

Sodality meeting

LEWISTON — The St. Ann Sodality of Prince of Peace Parish, Holy Family, will have a general meeting with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the Holy Family Parish Hall. There will be a Mass prior to the dinner at 5 p.m. in the church. Doors will open at 5:30 for the dinner. Officers and counselors will also be installed.

Tickets are $7 and must be purchased by Friday, Sept. 10. Ticket may be obtained from any board members or by calling Anita at 782-4516.
