Bowling league

RUMFORD — The Pine Tree Bowling League will have a meeting and practice session at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Oxford Lanes, Route 2. The league will start at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 and new bowlers and teams are welcome.

Lodge to meet

CANTON — Members of Whitney Lodge 167 A.F. and A.M. will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2. The meeting will be the the annual inspection and it will be preceded by a casserole supper at 6:30 p.m. All Master Masons are welcome.

Beekeepers to meet

MEXICO — Western Maine Beekeepers Association will present a slide show and talk by State Apiarist Tony Jadczak on getting hives ready for winter. The class will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Region 9 School, Route 2.

Beekeepers need to properly prepare their hives for winter to ensure survival. The class will cover the latest treatments for pests and diseases as well as tips and techniques for getting hives through the winter. All area beekeepers are invited to attend the free presentation.
