Grange to meet

POLAND — Excelsior Grange 5 will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the hall, 446 Harris Hill Road, for the annual planning meeting for Grange activities.

All members are urged to attend with ideas for the year. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting.

Parenting class

LEWISTON — Advocates for Children will offer “Parenting 101: Good Discipline” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28. Parents will learn how to engage cooperation; set rules, expectations and limits; alternatives to punishment; and anger management.

The class is recommended for parents with children ages 5 to 12. The fee is $5 and registration is required. To register, call 783-3990 or e-mail [email protected].

Sacred Heart club

AUBURN — The Sacred Heart Club of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish will meet Tuesday, Sept. 14, in the lower level meeting room of Sacred Heart Church. Members will gather at 11 a.m. for socializing and the dinner will be served at noon.

To purchase tickets for the chicken pot pie luncheon, members are asked to call Paula at 576-4082. Member Roland Bergeron will give a brief talk about the new Catholic radio station and will give an update on a project sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

Members are asked to bring two quality white elephant items to be used that day in a raffle/swap. Members are also encouraged to bring canned goods or donations for the St. Louis Food Pantry. New members are welcome. Membership fee is $3.

Citizens Police Academy

SABATTUS — The Sabattus Police Department has extended its deadline for applications to the Citizens Police Academy. Deadline for application is Wednesday, Sept. 22. The 11-week program will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Sept. 30, at the Police Department.
