Barbecue
LEWISTON — The Western Maine Labor Council will host the fourth annual Labor Day barbecue from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, at IBEW 567 Union Hall, 238 Goddard Road.
It will be held rain or shine. There will be food, including organic local hot dogs and hamburgs, fried local turkey, corn, ice cream novelties and other desserts. Union magician and balloon artist, the Great Stephan, will be in attendance as well as Rep. Mike Michaud, Rep. Chellie Pingree and Gubernatorial candidate Libby Mitchell. There will also be a kid’s tent with child care and entertainment.

Bridge play
LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 31 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Linda Leotsakos and Elizabeth Cross; tied at third, David Lock and Nancy Farmer with Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; fifth, Alberta Turner and Lucille Theriault.
Winners in Flight B were William and Cynthia Clifford. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the center.

Breastfeeding support
AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are all invited to the La Leche League meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome.
The discussion will focus on “The Advantages of Breastfeeding For Mother and Baby.” All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion. For breastfeeding help or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader at 782-6645.
