AUBURN — A bicyclist who fell from his bike Saturday morning while training for the Dempsey Challenge died after the incident.
According to his obituary Alan D. Libby, 47, of Livermore, was training for the upcoming event when he died unexpectedly.
Auburn police said Saturday, Libby, who they did not identify at the time, was training on Lake Shore Drive when he experienced a medical problem and fell from his bike at about 10 a.m. Saturday.
Libby was with a group of riders and one of them, a registered nurse, adiministered CPR before ambulance workers arrrived.
Libby apparently had suffered from a previous heart condition, one of the riders he was with told police.
Libby was, “doing what he loved riding his bicycle training for the Dempsey Challenge,” at the time of his death, his obituary stated.
