Cribbage winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Sept. 9 were: first, Sue Dunlap and Roger Labbe; second, Guy Dube and Robert Oliver; third, Anna Faucher and Norm Bissonnette; fourth, Muriel Webber and Sandy Oliver; fifth, Linda Dostie Scott and Jim Macdonald.

The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16.

Poets to meet

ROCKLAND — The Maine Poets Society will meet Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Rockland Public Library. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. A $15 registration fee will include lunch. Nonmembers are welcome and invited to bring a sample of their work and stay to participate in a reading-in-the-round starting about 3 p.m.

Society meeting

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at 64 Elm Street, formerly the Congregational Church.

The historical society plans to hold a open house once a month so the public can come in and view the town’s memorabilia, read the newspapers published in the community in the 19th century and scan and study other material and photographs pertaining to the town. There is no admission charge, though donations would be appreciated.

Volleyball clinic

LEWISTON — The Bates women’s volleyball team will host a clinic from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 and 26, in Alumni Gymnasium. The clinic is for girls in grades three to six and will include introduction to volleyball skills, game like drills and conditioning activities to promote good health and well-being.
