Clothing distribution

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Root Cellar will have a clothing distribution from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at the Root Cellar, 89 Birch St.

There will be free professional and casual clothing items and shoes of all sizes for infants, children, teens, men and women. The distribution is open to everyone in the community. For more information, call 782-3659.

Grange meeting

POLAND — Officers for the new year will be installed at Excelsior Grange 5, 446 Harris Hill Road, on Saturday, Sept. 18. Supper will be served at 6 p.m. and the open meeting will start at 7 p.m.

Caroline and Dana Coffin of Danville Corner Grange and their team will install the new slate of officers. As it is an open meeting, anyone whether a Grange member or not, will be welcome to attend.

CASA training

AUGUSTA — Free training is available for Maine Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA is a volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens as appointed members of the court.

Appointed by judges, CASA volunteers typically handle just one case at a time and commit to staying on that one case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. Training, supervision and ongoing support provided.

Lodge meeting 

AUBURN — Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, in the activities room at the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home, 85 Caron Lane. Election of officers and observing the 159th anniversary of the Rebekah Degree will take place during the business meeting.

Two members, Lucille Nelson and Mercena Abrams, visited Narragansett Rebekah Lodge in Westbrook and brought back one of the traveling tulips that is part of the program of Judy Clark, president of the Rebekah Assembly.

Other Rebekah lodge members are invited to attend the meeting to have the opportunity of take the traveling tulip back to their lodge to earn points. Any person interested in learning more about the Rebekahs may call Esther Tucker at 998-5359.
