LEWISTON —Berman & Simmons announces that attorney and Auburn resident Michael T. Bigos has recently become an equity member of the firm.

Since joining the firm in 2004, Bigos has distinguished himself by successfully resolving hundreds of personal injury cases for clients throughout Maine. He is often called by lawyers outside the firm to serve as “trial counsel” in complex and difficult cases, and is known as a “go-to” leader for legislative advocacy on civil justice issues, safety policies, protecting consumers, and presentations involving trial work.

Bigos is a past managing editor of the University of Maine Law Review, and spent his first year as a lawyer working as a clerk for Justice Jon Levy of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. He is a governor of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association and chairs its legislative committee. He is also a former commissioner of the Maine Governmental Ethics and Elections Practices Commission.

Before joining Berman & Simmons, he worked in the Maine Legislature and served as chief of staff to Chellie Pingree.
