FARMINGTON — Marc Edwards, University of Maine Cooperative Extension Tourism Economic Development professional, will host an interpretive skills training seminar this month in Farmington and Rangeley.

The sessions are:

* 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Extension office, 138 Pleasant St. in Farmington

* 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse at 41 Old Skiway Road.

Edwards brings years of expertise in tourism development and interpretive skills to Franklin County businesses that wish to offer customers a valuable and memorable experience.

For businesses catering to the tourists of Franklin County, interpretive skills training could mean the difference between selling your product and selling the rich cultural and physical history of our region, he said. “It only takes a moment,” Edwards said, “and it could be the moment that brings the customer back.”

To register, contact Siobhann Patrie at 778-5887 or [email protected].

The training is part of the Maine Woods Tourism Training Initiative, a project supported by the Maine Woods Consortium with funding from the Betterment Fund and USDA Rural Development.
