BRYANT POND — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Judith Grover Tent 17, with the help of Larry Bonney, erected fundraising signs at the Veterans Memorial Honor Roll between the Grange Hall and the library on Main Street on Sept. 4.
The material for the signs was donated by Elsie Bonney and the signs were made by Marybeth Hoover.
The Daughters are trying to raise enough money to enlarge the Honor Roll, to accommodate all veterans, past, present and future. Due to lack of space, some names have not been put on the present Honor Roll and others are in the wrong place. The group would also like to add the names of the Civil War veterans from the area.
They currently have about $2,500 and are seeking donations to help with the project. Donations were previously given from a special beano game at Jackson Silver Post, and from individuals, organizations and lawn sales. Donations are tax-deductible.
Donations may be mailed to Alice Hoyt, P.O. Box 105, Bryant Pond, ME 04219 or to Elsie Bonney, 28 Paris Road, Bethel, ME 04217. Checks may be made out to Veterans Monument Fund.
