OES meeting

AUBURN — Members of Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

Judith A. Wilkie, worthy grand matron, will conduct the Chapter’s official visitation. Pine Cone has the travel emblem “Mustang Sally” for District 4. All Eastern Star members are welcome. Refreshments will be served in the dining hall following the meeting.

Open house

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. The public is welcome to come in and browse through the historical material the society has collected.

The society will also host a benefit concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, featuring The Malcolm Clan and Bruce Hobart. There will be no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. The historical society is located at 64 Elm St, formerly the Congregational Church.

Girl Scouts

POLAND — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Ricker Memorial Library.

Benefit ride

LITCHFIELD — The Maine Trail Riders Association recently held the first annual Blazin a Trail For a Cure benefit ride, in association with the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides campaign, to raise funds to fight breast cancer.

On Sept. 19, 42 riders and their equine friends headed out of the Litchfield Fairgrounds on a four-hour trail ride. The association raised $2,294.92, which was donated to the Making Strides campaign. The money will go towards programs of research, education, advocacy and patient services.

Cemetery association

AUBURN — The North Auburn Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lebel, 625 North Auburn Road. Those interested are invited to attend.

Haunted trail ride

WALES — The Oak Hill High School Class of 2013 will sponsor a Haunted Trail and Hayride from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 21 and 22, at Roaring Brook Nurseries, Route 126.

Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children under 10; $1 for a second trip. The haunted trail is one-half mile.
