WILTON — A local man was arrested early Thursday after he failed to stop for police and tried to elude them by parking behind a Jay residence and going inside, police said.
Steven J. Marin, 46, of Wilton was arrested on a charge of eluding an officer, according to Wilton Police Department.
Marin was also issued a summons on charges of failure to stop for an officer, driving to endanger, imprudent speed and operating after suspension of license, police said. He posted $500 cash bail Thursday and is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Dec. 16.
Officer Kyle Cutler was traveling in the opposite direction of Marin’s vehicle on Main Street at about 2 a.m. and the officer checked that status of the license plate, police said.
The inquiry showed that Marin’s driver’s license was suspended and Cutler turned around and activated his blue lights in an attempt to stop him, police said.
The vehicle turned onto Route 2 and then Jay Street and the officer lost sight of it, police said.
Cutler requested that Jay police approach from the other end of street, which is Keep Road in Jay.
Jay officer Mike Mejia located the car behind a residence on Keep Road, police said.
Marin had gone into the residence and asked to use the bathroom and the resident gave him a drink of water.
Cutler and Mejia went to the residence and Marin was arrested, police said.
