Masonic Sunday

SOUTH PARIS — Grand officers will participate in the 35th annual Masonic Sunday on Oct. 24 at Deering Memorial United Methodist Church.

Worthy Grand Matron, OES, Judith Wilkie, will lead the responsive reading and the scripture lesson. W. Louis Greenier II, grand master of Masons in Maine, will bring the morning message entitled “God’s Grace.”

The service is at 10 a.m., but everyone is asked to gather downstairs at 9:40 a.m.

Worship service

NORWAY — The First Universalist churches of Norway and West Paris invite people to join them for Sunday services. The service titled “A Harvest Communion” on Sunday, Oct. 24, will observe Unitarian Universalism’s liberal sharing of communion as a celebration.

The Rev. Richard Beal will conduct both services and special music will be presented. The service at West Paris, 128 Main St., is at 9 a.m. The service at Norway, 479 Main St., is at 11 a.m. Child care is available. The website for both churches is www.norwayuu.org.

Membership social

NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group will hold a membership social event from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at 480 Main St. Finger foods, beverages and dessert will be provided. Members are free. The cost for guests is $5.

Silent auction

BUCKFIELD — Wilda Dunham has announced that the Sumner Ladies Auxiliary will hold a silent auction on Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Buckfield Junior Senior High School. Proceeds will help with the purchase of a Jaws of Life for the Sumner Volunteer Fire Department.

Dunham said that among the 600 items at the auction, there will be a jelly cupboard, rocking chair, vegetable bin, tool sets and loggers chaps. The viewing will start at 11 a.m. and the auction will start at 1 p.m. There will be refreshments, a 50/50 raffle and draw bags.

The Auxiliary recently had the dedication of a new helipad behind the fire station which was paid for by fundraisers from the Auxiliary. For more information, call Dunham at 388-2981
