Few men have experienced stranger things than E. P. Wardwell of Lewiston, a veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted in the 11th Maine Regiment in 1862. He saw active service, during which he received a wound from a rifle ball in the right shoulder. Since 1862, 49 years have passed, and recently Mr. Wardwell began to have pains in his right leg. It was but a short time ago that he himself found that the bullet had worked its way from his shoulder to his leg, and he extracted it. Mr. Wardwell has since felt some pain in his leg, but is able to walk on it.
