MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society recently came in possession of a folding card table with advertisements on its top for 40 area business establishments (mostly Mechanic Falls locations) dated at least 30 or more years ago. The phone numbers listed are only four digits.

The society is trying to learn when these folding tables came on the scene and who or what group was responsible for them. The sticker underneath the table top states they were produced by Durham Manufacturing out of Indiana and carries a number. The society has table number 831.

A list of businesses advertised on the card table top include Tucker Funeral Home, Baker’s Country Store, C.W. Meserve and Son, Roak The Florist, Moselle’s Beauty Shop, Emery H. McAllister Wirthmore Feed, D.J. Dibiase, Ken Welch Barber Shop, Quality Dry Cleaners, Merrill and Denning, E. C. Jordan Company, Emery F. Walker.

Also, Needham and Keene, Main Street Garage, Value Dress Shop, Saunder’s Florist, Taylor’s Variety, Callahan Bros. Inc., Village Store, King Jewelers, Needham’s, Irving H. Brown, P.E. Dunn, Morrell’s Market, A.W. Strout, Golden Heart Shortbread and Soft Sponge Bread, Sam Hayman for Good Used Cars, Rogers Fibre Co. Inc., C.R. Jordan Lumber, J.L. McKenney Racing Stable, Pepsi Cola Bottling Company.

Also, J.W. Penney and Sons Company, J.A. Bucknam and Company, Mac’s Restaurant, Harold J. Goss, Manchester’s Texaco Service, Lewiston Trust Company, May G. Pulsifer, Ox Bow Restaurant and Ward’s.
