PITTSFIELD, Maine (AP) — A Maine-based heavy construction company is getting into the refining and petrochemical industry.

The Cianbro Cos., based in Pittsfield, announced Friday it has acquired Starcon International Inc. for an undisclosed price.

Cianbro is a general contractor with 2,500 employees in 15 eastern states.

Starcon is based in Illinois and provides maintenance and other services to refineries and petrochemical plants across the country.

Company officials say the acquisition will allow both companies to expand their operations.

The two companies are privately owned.
