SOUTH PARIS — The annual Veterans Day program will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
The guest speaker will be Carlos Puiia, Rumford Town Manager. Puiia was born and raised in Rumford as one of eight children of Nick and Dot Puiia. His father was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, earning a Purple Heart and was recently recognized posthumously by the State of Maine with a Silver Star.
He serves as a merit badge counselor for the local Boy Scout Troop he belonged to as a youth, as a director on the Greater Rumford Community Center and is a member of his church’s finance committee. He is also a longtime member of the Sons of Italy and the Knights of Columbus.
The veterans home is located at 477 High St. The public is invited to attend the program.
