The owners of a voter-approved resort casino in Oxford rolled out a new website Monday, assuring people they intend to stick to their campaign promises and bring jobs to Maine.
A narrated video on the site MaineCasino.com thanks supporters, outlines plans for construction and projects the casino will be open in late 2011.
“In every phase of this project, preference will always be given to Mainers and Maine businesses,” the video promises.
Promoted by Black Bear Entertainment, owned by Bob and Gary Bahre, Suzanne and Rupert Grover, Steve Barber, Rob Lally and Jim Boldebook, the site thanks those who voted yes.
It also thanks community supporters and goes on to ask voters who opposed the casino during a statewide ballot earlier in November to give the owners a chance to prove their word.
The ballot measure approving the casino passed by a margin of just over 5,000 votes, according to unofficial returns. Opponents of the measure, including one local group, have asked for a ballot recount. That process is not expected to begin until after Thanksgiving.
In an e-mail message Monday, Boldebook wrote a local office for the casino would be opened in the Oxford Plaza on Route 26 by the end of the week.
