HOULTON — Police are asking the public for help identifying the body of a man found in Stacyville on Nov. 4.

Deer hunters found the “badly decomposed” body in the woods off Route 11, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety. The State Medical Examiner’s Office says ther are no signs of foul play. They estimate the man died in early September. He is in his 50s, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighed about 150 pounds.

According to the press release, the man was wearing a blue and white knit cap with the name “Chris” knitted into the design. He was also wearing or carrying

  • a blue and white plaid button-down long sleeve shirt made by Vineyard Vinews,
  • khaki pants made by St. John’s Bay with a 33-inch waist and 30-inch inseam,
  • a dark brown canvas jacket made by St. John’s Bay in a medium size,
  • size 10EE white New Balance sneakers,
  • a black High Sierra briefcase containing three empty juice and water bottles,
  • three empty juice and water bottles,
  • two spray cans of Off insect repellant,
  • and a medium brown sweater.

State Police ask if anyone has any information on the man’s identity they call their office in Houlton at 207-532-5400.
