LISBON — At a conference held in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 2, Lisbon High School teacher, Jody Benson of Auburn, was selected to serve as Maine’s Project UNIFY Coordinator.
Special Olympics Project UNIFY, in collaboration with the National Education Association, awarded 18 teachers throughout the United States funding to enhance school curriculum, foster positive school climates, create youth leadership opportunities, expand youth participation in Unified Sports teams and Young Athletes Programs and to promote the Spread the Word to End the Word “R Word” campaign.
As Maine’s Project UNIFY Coordinator, Benson’s program at Lisbon High School will serve as the pilot program by creating and sharing Project UNIFY’s goals with other schools throughout the state.
