BIDDEFORD — Attorney Chelsea E. Fournier, formerly of Lewiston, has joined Furman Gregory Deptula as a senior associate. The key areas of her practice are corporate law and intellectual property law. She will be based in the firm’s new Biddeford office.

Fournier’s intellectual property practice focuses on working with businesses and individuals in the entertainment, fashion and jewelry industries, as well as technology companies seeking strategies to protect their intellectual property. She works closely with businesses to consider how these areas of law can work in synergy to reach creative solutions that will grow effectively and efficiently in state, federal and international markets.

She has experience with the prosecution and maintenance of trademarks with the USPTO and foreign filing administrations, as well as registration of copyrightable works with the U.S. Copyright Office. Fournier also brings experience with protection of trade secrets, drafting and negotiating licensing contracts, production agreements, publishing contracts, website policies, document retention and data breach policies, industry standards compliance documents, and related agreements to help clients safely leverage their assets in commerce.

Fournier previously practiced corporate and intellectual property law with Preti Flaherty in Portland. She is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law and Bridgewater State College. She is admitted to practice in Maine and Massachusetts.
