DURHAM — A Lewiston woman escaped apparent injury early Thursday night in a car-moose collision on Route 136.

Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Rielly Bryant said Karen Schneider, 45, was driving north on Route 136 near Quaker Meetinghouse Road when she struck a moose running across the road in front of her car. The moose ran off into woods.

Damage to her 1998 Toyota Camry was estimated at $6,000 in the 6:30 p.m. crash.
