LEWISTON — Advocates for Children has announced the January, February and March parenting classes.

“1,2,3,4 Parents!” is a three-week program for parents with children ages 1 to 4. Parents will learn discipline methods that

work, how to prevent tantrums and routines to make life easier. The class features video presentations, discussion, workbook activities and group activities. It will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 11, 18 and 25. Cost of $15 includes a handbook. Registration is required.

“1-2-3 Magic” is a two-week program on child discipline. It offers a humorous look at parenting with a serious look at discipline. The class will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Feb. 7 and 14. Registration is $5 and includes a handbook. Registration is required. The class will help parents find solutions to the challenges of disciplining children ages 2 to 12.

The “Nurturing Father’s Program” will teach about fathering A-Z. It will meet free once a week for 13 weeks from 4:45 to 7:15 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 10 to May 19, at the Toy Library, 134 College St. Call Kim Desso-Dembele at AFC 783-3990, ext. 224, to register.

“Nurturing the Families of Lewiston” is a free program for building healthy and caring families. It is a 15-session program for parents and their children ages 5 to 12, meeting from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 15, March 1, 8, 22, 29, April 5, 12, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, June 7 and 14, at Montello Elementary School. It is sponsored by Advocates for Children and Lewiston/Auburn Safe Schools Healthy Students. For more information, call Desso-Dembele.

“Kids First – Parenting Through Separation and Divorce” is a program for parents who are in the process of separation or divorce, who wish to lessen the negative impact experienced by their children. Dates are Saturdays, Jan. 8, Feb. 12 and March 12, from 8 a.m. to noon. To register, call 783-3990. Fee is $60 and limited scholarships are available.
