BETHEL — Local Communities Respond to Overcome Poverty (CROP) walks help to relieve hunger locally and around the world. People in the Bethel area will work and walk together to raise funds and awareness to overcome poverty at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26.

Walkers will walk three miles around Bethel Village, starting at West Parish Congregational Church on Church Street. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will stay locally, going to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, earmarked for Bethel and surrounding towns to use.

Last year, the Bethel Area CROP Walk raised $3,100 towards the work of Church World Service, which partners with aide agencies around the world to provide disaster relief as well as long-term micro-loans and development projects in over 80 countries.

For more information about the walk, contact Jane Chandler at 357-3524 or [email protected].
