RUMFORD — Junior forward Ayla Allen provided a game-high 21 points as Mtn. Valley cruised to a 52-31 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Falcons (3-2) took a 19-9 first half lead. Allen posted nine rebounds, three blocks and six steals to go along with her 21 points. Chrissy Briggs contributed 10 points on four field goals, including two from three-point range.

Makayla White posted all six of her points in a strong fourth quarter showing by the Falcons. White had a three-point field goal and three free throws to go with six rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Makayla Lure led the Roadrunners (1-4) with 16 points on four field goals and eight free throws in the losing effort.

Richmond 32, Rangeley 30, OT

RANGELEY — Danica Hurley’s short jumper in overtime put Richmond ahead to stay, as they edged Rangeley 32-30 in a EWC girls’ basketball matchup Thursday.

The Bobcats (4-0) were paced by Jamie Plummer with 14 points, the only player in double figures. The Lakers (4-1) jumped out to a 13-6 advantage in the first quarter. Richmond got revved up in the second frame and pulled to within two points at the half. They would hold a two-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

Rangeley received strong performances from Jenny Abbott (seven points, 16 rebounds and five steals) and Emily Carrier (10 points) in an attack that came up just a little bit short.

Livermore Falls 51, Dirigo 31

LIVERMORE FALLS — After building a nine-point advantage in the first half, Livermore Falls pulled steadily away from Dirigo in the final frames to post a 51-31 victory Thursday evening.

Kathryn Ventrella led the mighty Andies (5-0) with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Annika Durrell chipped in with nine points and 12 rebounds, while Marissa Welch added nine points and hauled down 10 rebounds.

The Cougars (4-1) were paced by Hannah Knight with a solid 11-point effort, the only player in double figures.

Brewer 50, Mt. Blue 33

FARMINGTON — Morgan Small poured in a game-high 23 points Thursday to lead Brewer to a 50-33 victory over Mt. Blue in a KVAC girls’ basketball tilt.

Faith Thomas chipped in for the Witches (2-4) with 13 points, while Holly Nickerson added eight.

Jillian Perron led the Cougars (1-3) with 12 points, while Gabby Foy added eight. Brewer jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first quarter and was never challenged.

Brunswick 50, Lewiston 28

LEWISTON — Brunswick breathed in the opening frame as the Dragons coasted to a 50-28 victory over Lewiston in KVAC girls’ basketball action Thursday.

The Blue Devils (0-5) showed some promise in the third quarter, limiting Brunswick to seven points in the frame. Sophomore guad Tori Denis recorded a team-high nine points for the Blue Devils.

Junior forward Becky Champagne scored a game-high 14 points for the Dragons with six field goals, including two from three-point range in the winning effort.

Jay 70, Telstar 19

BETHEL — All 11 Jay players scored at least two points as the Tigers rolled to a 70-19 victory over Telstar.

The Tigers (4-1) scored the first 22 points of the game en route to a 29-2 advantage after the opening quarter. The lead grew to 43-3 and 59-4 after the middle two frames.

Beth Moore led Jay with 17 points and Allanah White added 11 points.

Nicena Walker led Telstar (0-5) with seven points .

St. Dom’s 35, Boothbay 22

BOOTHBAY ? The St. Dom’s girl’s basketball squad outscored their opponent 19-8 in the second half, racing away to a 35-22 win over Boothbay in a MVC matchup Thursday.

The Saints (3-2) were led by Sarah Gosselin with 13 points, while Mary Caron chipped in with nine. Boothbay (1-4) trailed by just two points at the half but fell flat on offense the final two quarters. Megan Smith led the team with nine points, while Alexandra Clarke tallied six.

Girls’ hockey

Leavitt/EL 6, C.Elizabeth/Waynflete 0

TURNER — Taylor Landry and Kayla Royer each netted a pair of goals Thursday as Leavitt/Edward Little skated to a 6-0 victory over Cape Elizabeth/Wayneflete in a girls’ hockey matchup.

Shaylin Collins and Tori Mae Couture also tallied for the Red Hornets (4-2-1) to complete the scoring. Brianna Stanley made three saves to preserve the shutout.
