LEWISTON — Girl Scout Daisies from Troop 1107 in Auburn received a tour of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society recently. The staff at the shelter enabled the members to work on the Make the World a Better Place Patch.

The troop of kindergartners and first-graders share a love for animals and were all excited to visit the shelter. Each member brought in donations of food and litter, and everyone made cat toys during a previous meeting.

Weekly the troop collects dues to help pay for supplies and events, and the girls decided to donate their dues to help out the animals at the shelter.

The day of the visit there were 14 cats/kittens, two dogs, two guinea pigs, two rats and a rabbit that found new homes. The animals are in need of more food, litter and newspaper and forever homes. More information can be found online at www.gahumane.org or in person at 55 Strawberry Ave.
