Square dancing

WILTON — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club is co-hosting square and round dancing with Friendship Square of Wilton from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at the Cushing School.

Al Hipkins, Swingin’ Bears club caller, will call mainstream and plus levels of square dancing and Carol Stewart will call the round dancing. Admission is $6 a person for dancers and no charge for nondancers wishing to observe.

Swingin’ Bears is offering a free lesson to beginners, age 18 and up, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 5 or 12, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris. After the first lesson, the charge will be $4 a lesson.

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Dec. 31 in the Recreation Building, King Street, when a 4 and 1/2 table Howell movement was played. The last quarter club championship was held.

Finishing first in flight A were Pete Cummings and Dick Allen; second, Cynthia and Bill Clifford, also were first in flight B; third, Linda Leosatkos and Maryann Trafton.

Finishing second in flight B were Barbara Vanderzanden and Carol Curran; third, Priscilla Rooth and Hazel Glazier, also were first in flight C; second, flight C, Jim Krainin and Milt McKeen.
