PORTLAND — WMTW-TV Channel 8 announced that Erin Ovalle will be joining award-winning NEWS 8 as weekday morning co-anchor with Shannon Moss.

Ovalle comes from WGME, where she worked her way from reporting and partial anchoring to becoming one of that station’s top personalities.

She grew up in Boston and southern New Hampshire and went to Gordon College in Massachusetts. She started her career at WEIU in Illinois, then moved to Traverse City, Mich., to be a reporter. Later, she landed at WEAR in Pensacola, Fla., as a weekend anchor/reporter.

Ovalle will begin co-anchoring weekday mornings on Jan. 12.
