100 years ago,1911

Tuesday evening,  members of the Rosemary Club entertained about 20 of their gentlemen friends at the jolly dancing party at Musical Union Station. During the evening, a number of novel surprises were carried out and caused much merriment among the guests. Dissected hearts in various colors were passed around and each one present sought his partner for the opening waltz by finding the mate to his heart. This feature was a source of considerable amusement and brought about the spirit of informality which prevailed during the entire evening, making it one of the most enjoyable dancing parties that this popular club of young women has held for some time.

50 years ago, 1961

Les Marchandes de Bonheur met last evening at the Marcotte Home with a large number attending. Following a short business meeting six new members were admitted. The new members are Mrs. Leon Rousseau, Miss Simonne Rousseau, Mrs. Robert Levesque, Mrs. Phillip Ouellette, Mrs. Edmond Paradis and Miss Seraphine Fontaine.

25 years ago, 1986

The Androscoggin Fish and Game Association in Auburn has accepted a number of archers recently and had scheduled three indoor competitions over the next two months, a spokesman said.

Archers in the past had no area facility for indoor shooting, but due to its increased membership the 50 member Androscoggin Club has opened its indoor 20-yard gun range to archers on Monday nights. The club recently became affiliated with the Maine Bowhunters Association.
